Margaret began working for Camp Fire in October 2003 but her journey with Camp Fire began many years before. Joining as a Blue Bird in 1975, she just never quit. Both of her children, Ashley and Hayden, as well as her grandchildren, Jaden, Michael, Katie, Keaira, and William, remain active participants with the council. Margaret received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Service Counseling with a minor in Psychology from East Central University.

Margaret says, “Camp Fire has been a part of my life for so long that it’s difficult for me to describe what Camp Fire means to me. I have described it to good friends as ‘our past, our present, but most importantly, our future.’ With everything our children face in their lives, we offer acceptance, skills, purpose, a listening ear, and a shoulder, if needed. Though it can be stressful at times, the look on the kids’ faces when they achieve a goal makes it worthwhile. In today’s world, it’s even more important than it was when I was growing up.”
